POV:
you’re hosting one stall in a dense exhibition hall, surrounded on every flank by competitors, each fighting for attention beneath overbearingly bright lights.
How do you penetrate the atmosphere and elevate your product in this scenario?
STRIDENT approached us with a brief to fill the 6m x 2m screen they were installing in their exhibition stall. We immediately knew we should distinguish the display from the shining whites throughout the hall with a dark stylistic product showcase.
In the SCOPIC Studio
Our lights would come saturated and glowing; electrifying exhibition attendees as they stumble into an almost-cinematic experience.
We used a series of sequence-programmable RGB tube lights to achieve in-camera effects, with hues reflecting the STRIDENT branding and their product sub-divisions.
The short deadline STRIDENT approached us with told us we couldn’t spend the time constructing complex graphics in After Effects, so just like with the lights we doubled down on capturing our effects in camera. We embraced pseudo-rear projection using a large TV, matched to compliment the product category colours running through our tube lights.
Movement is created by physically adjusting the product in place, and by moving the camera in the environment.
Our favourite shot: The Tyred Susan.
We secure the tyre on our Edelkrone lazy susan and then programmed a 90 degree movement, set to ease in and ease out of the motion.
Paired with careful lighting, we create a visual that appears like a render, there’s so much detail in the contrasting rubber.
Then, combined with a steady push-in in post-production, followed by a gfx glitch effect, we shift into another in-camera movement – spinning the tyre.
